The Siam Society Sketching Workshop
Saturday 27, October 2012

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
By Khun Asnee Tasanaruangrong
A founder of Bangkok Sketchers and Member of The Siam Society

There are many ways that one can protect cultural heritage. Last year Siamese Heritage Trust conducted panel discussions and took you to several heritage sites to learn, appreciate and promote the cultural value of the site. You may have taken many pictures to record your favorite scenes, which leads to some degree of sharing among friends or other members of the society via email or public media such as Facebook, etc.

However, there is another way you could record the impressive views of people’s way of life, historical buildings, or landscape.  Sketching will provide all the moments of joy, fun, information, experience and emotions that no camera can ever do. Moreover, sketching will make you pay more attention on the detail of places and objects that you like. Sketching will help you memorize things better than taking pictures.

Siamese Heritage Trust will hold a sketching workshop which will introduce to new sketchers the concept and advice leading to the transformation of the subject to a sketchbook quickly and simply. The workshop is divided into two main components; learning how to draw and learning how to sketch. The workshop is conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments at the Siam Society, and a field trip to Yaowarat will be conducted as a part of the workshop.

About the workshop instructor:
