A Visit to Klongsan Neighborhood Part 2
Saturday, 24 September 2011 (8:30 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.)

This trip is a part of “Siamese Heritage Protection Program” which was established this year by
The Siam Society under Royal Patronage to commemorate the 84th Royal Birthday Anniversary
of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Patron of the Siam Society and protector of fine arts
and cultural heritage of Thailand.

Program:

 

8:30 - 8:45 a.m.

Meet at Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry. (โรงพยาบาลสมเด็จเจ้าพระยา เลขที่ 112 ถนนสมเด็จเจ้าพระยา แขวงคลองสาน เขตคลองสาน กรุงเทพฯ)

 

08:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

Listen to the history of the Institute and visit its museum. Then we will visit Wang Lee Mansion which belongs to the rich Chinese merchant family of Wang Lee.

 

From there we will go to the old port and Goddess Tabtim Shrine where we will have dessert and beverage. 

Then we will see an old monk's dwelling in Wat Thong Thammachat Worawiharn, and see a mural painted by a respected monk at Wat Thong Nopphakhun.

From there we will visit the Chee Chin Khor Moral Uplifting Society and finally see a trace of a fort from the reign of King Rama IV.

 

1.20 p.m.

End trip at Pak Klongsan Pier Market, the place where you can find delicious food for your own lunch.

 

Contribution:


Bt. 200 for members: Bt 250 for non-members. This will include dessert, beverage, insurance and arrangement fee. Places are available for 35 persons. Please book your place by 22 September 2011.
