Today’s rejuvenated and lively historic neighborhoods, namely Na Phra Lan, Tha Chang, and Tha Tien are the result of the 4 years conservation project, undertaken by The Crown Property Bureau with some contribution by local residents. The lessees of the vibrant shophouses from the reign of King Rama V were encouraged to rethink how to best use of the beautiful space.  Of course, the conservation brought changes to the neighborhood. Some old businesses have remained, some were transformed, and some already disappeared. Some new things were introduced and bring new ideas and energies to the neighborhoods. It is becoming attractive for both tourists and locals.

On Saturday 26 May Dr. Yongtanit Pimonsathean, who was an advisor to this conservation project, will lead you to walk on this historic route, explaining the conservation process. You will explore inside some shophouses in the Tha Tien community and listen to the history of local businesses from the owners.

At 3:30 p.m. the group will start walking from Na Phra Lan to Pak Khlong Talad (around 2 kilometers). At 6 p.m. the group will have dinner in a lovely restaurant in a historic building which serves authentic Thai cuisine. The owner of the restaurant will share her experience in historic building renovation with a special presentation. The program will end at around 8 p.m. at the restaurant. After dinner, members can take a short walk to enjoy the beauty of Wat Pho in night light or explore the neighborhood further on your own.
